FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Rebuilt RV Refrigerators

Q. Why are your refrigerators so inexpensive?

A. We fully rebuilt our refrigerators ourselves in our Vallejo Ca. factory and sell direct to you  via the Internet.

Q. Why don't you ship.

A. The cost of packaging and shipping is too expensive. Besides we want you to choose the exact refrigerator you want from our large range. This way everyone is happy with the deal.

Q. My refrigerator is like new but the cooling unit is no good. Do I have to get a rebuilt refrigerator or can I have my unit repaired?

A. We can replace the cooling unit in your refrigerator for even less. Please see our cooling unit section for prices and availability.

Q. How much will it cost to install the refrigerator?

A. Usually it costs approximately $50 however if modifications are required this can increase the cost. Please see our Cost Repair-Replace section.

Q. Why don't you sell new RV refrigerators?

A. We  specialize in rebuilding and recycling of RV refrigerators. We only sell new when there are virtually no used units available. We also find that many new refrigerators will not fit in the original refrigerator space in the RV.

Q. I have a Dometic RM2807 or RM2811 and the unit keeps going to check on control panel. I have gone over everything and can not find a problem?

A. All the Dometics with the push button upper control boards have a real problem with the main power boards. The components are incased in yellow epoxy and this makes then run too hot hence the board fails. We sell the Dinosaur

P-711 to fix this problem. See Power Boards

Q. How do you rebuild the refrigerators?

A. Please see our Repair/Rebuild section.

Q. How much will it cost to fix my refrigerator?

A. Please see our cost repair/replace section.

Q. Can I run my refrigerator while I'm driving?

A. Yes, but there are some requirements. The unit has a flame safety shut-off valve, so if the flame goes out the gas will shut off and you must manually restart the flame. Caution: you should ensure that this feature is working correctly.

There are two items you need to be aware of, these are:

1. When you pull into a gas station you must turn off the refrigerator before you start to fill your tank and pull away from the pumps before you restart it.

2. When you stop driving for lunch or a stop longer that 20min you must level the RV or turn off the refrigerator as this will do damage if you continue to run the unit.

Q, I have been told you can run the unit off-level on gas but not on 120v. Is this true?

A. No! There are so many stories about this. Over 30% of the units I see have been damaged from unleveled operation. The real answer is, whenever the refrigerator is in operation (propane, 12V or 120V) and the RV is not moving the RV MUST be as level as you can get it. Remember if you are stopping for a short while and the RV is parked unleveled it is better to just turn off the refrigerator and restart it when you return.

Q. All or some of my refrigerator racks are rusting, can I get good replacements?

A. Yes, we sell Stainless Steel replacement  racks for $25 each.
